Rigging Grip, IATSE Local 891
Rod started in the entertainment industry in 1992, at first to become a studio-recording engineer.
He soon discovered that live shows were his preference, and began working as a freelance tech as both a live sound engineer, and high rigger. Rod joined IATSE Local 118 in October 1994 made the jump to film in the summer of 2003, working as a Rigging Grip on film and television sets in Vancouver around the world.
He attained ETCP certification as an Arena Rigger in 2008 and has been the IATSE Local 891 delegate to several of PLASA’s annual International Rigging Conferences in London since 2010
For the past nine years he has been the IATSE Local 891 Grip Department rigging representative to ESTA (Entertainment Services & Technology Association), where he participates in the proactive process of writing safety standards to the entertainment industry in the Rigging Working Group.
